My neighbor is a builder who collects scraps. He shared some scrap 2X4 and I brought out the wood burners. TIP: Have pencils out for rough sketching before putting the burner to the wood. I also like to have one piece of wood where students can try it out. I also have a large container of water where students can quench a burn. My glass blowing teacher says 5 minutes under water! WATCH: Immature students will try to burn through the wood and smoke everyone out. Remind kids to keep the tip moving, albeit slowly.
