I was inspired by the free 3D pop up card templates at Robert Sabuda. The Menorah seemed like a natural for adding some electricity. Using strips of either aluminum or copper tape, students added a strip on the front of the shamash leaving a tail to roll up underneath for the negative charge. TIP:The sticky side is not conductive. Behind the shamash, we added a strip of metal tape just to the right of the card fold. Then we took an Led bulb and put the positive (long leg) through a small hole above the metal tape decorating the shamash for the positive leg to poke down. Scotch tape will hold the negative leg to the front of the shamash, and when pressed, the positive leg should connect to the tape on the back of the card. Now tape down the coin battery for the positive side lies on the back metal tape. Make sure the tape touching the battery can make contact with the positive leg of the light when pressed.
