Bead People Redux

Dana Carmichael

This project is adapted from one I read about in Family Fun Magazine years ago. It takes copper or aluminum wire smaller than 15mil, a variety of beads and buttons, and optional needle nose pliers for pulling the wire back up through a bead to finish. CAUTION: Don't leave wire tails out where they can poke fingers. Cut an 8in length of wire and fold in half. Twist a small loop before adding the head bead if you will be hanging it from a zipper or necklace. The head and body are threaded onto both wires, while the arms and legs only need one. Think about symmetry. When you finish the feet, thread the tail back up one or two beads and twist around itself.

This is a bead figure made by a 7th grader. The thought bubble made it hard for this bead person to stand up, but the artist is happy with the coordinating colors.
