With school construction paper, Dollar Tree stickers and foam hearts, Costco markers, and LOTS of glue sticks, students spent two or three days making valentines cards. To limit the romantic inclinations of the holiday, I found some messages for friends and family at the Hallmark webpage. Since most students this age know how to make a single paper heart, I included instruction on making a heart chain from Aunt Annie's Crafts. A few rambunctous students ran out of people to make valentines for, but thought it funny to bug their friends. . .so I found instructions for paper fortune cookies at Somewhat Simple. The challenge and novelty proved too hard to resist!
