This is a multi-layered project (no pun intended). Mr. Whitright and I both found several sets of instructions. His favorite is at CutOutandFoldUp. I was working from the steps at Instructables. After trying to blend the two ideas, I also found a PDF from PBS to print for students. Precision is KEY to successful building. Making the struts proved tedious even though both of us adults pitched in. Be prepared for sword fights and a quality control station before the pile of newspaper tubes gets big enough to use. Taping the cylinders was difficult, even with library book tape. Staples may be a better solution. The kids built a cube and pyramid after the dome. A prism was started, but left incomplete. I wish I'd gotten a picture of my 7th graders trying to contort themselves inside of the dome.
