Hacky Sack vs. Bean Bags

Mrs. Carmichael

Students created targets on the floor of the lobby for a toss game. Looking for the perfect throwable, they wanted to make bean bags. I remembered making some no-sew ones for a birthday party, but I couldn't find the instructions at Family Fun. A quick search brought me to Thrifty Fun for the exact Hacky Sack shaped project. A rather large barrier to our success was the size of balloons available locally. So we decided to hand sew small bean bag squares with dried lentils as the filler. The boys learned how to thread, knot, and whip stitch with the help of Mr. Whitright. (We used Alene's fabric glue for any defects in the original construction.)
