At a meeting with other school librarians, I learned about a project called a Puff Car. I was told this project is common in elementary science curriculums. I found a PDF instructions at the Center for Afterschool Education. Note: Be sure to have enough Lifesavers for wheels and a snack. The leftover black tagboard proved useful for making cards and zoetropes. 2017 update: I found green tagboard at the Dollar Tree and Costco has a bag of mint lifesavers. Here is a time-lapse video of the competition. This is a great two day project.
