I can't remember if I read this in a magazine first, or saw it on Pinterest. But I found instructions online for Hula Hoop T-shirt weaving and thought it would be a great project that anyone could add to as they visit the library. I bought a hoop at Walmart, and colored nylon at our local Ace Hardware. Then I challenged about five students to help me make t-shirt yarn and asked a regular patron to get us started. Several students dropped in and kept the weaving going. When I tried to tie the black nylon, however, the whole structure fell apart. Some of our students wove around the outside of the nylon, and some through the middle of the loops. The t-shirt yarn is proving versatile for finger crochet and is cheap.
