This young man spent time experimenting with the sounds of different fillers for his rainstick. The final design was heavy because of the copious amount of duct tape on the inside. This was a free-form day where I was hoping students would make structures. Other students were interested in the "club" look of this item and I had to spend some time making sure we didn't have too much sword play. Following his lead, however, I think the instructions at NASA's Kids could prove a popular maker activity.
